Calling Young Writers and Artists

November 29, 2011 / Events

The call for entries has gone out: it’s time again for students to enter their very best for consideration in The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.

Each year, the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers holds this prestigious contest, open to teens in grades 7 through 12. Students can submit works in any of 28 categories of art and writing, with submissions judged by some of the best in their fields, including past winners. Awards range from recognition at local ceremonies, all the way up to receiving a gold medal at Carnegie Hall, having work shown at nationally known galleries, and publication in national magazines and anthologies.

Scholarships awarded add up to a quarter of a million dollars annually.

Past winners of the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards include Andy Warhol, Richard Avedon, Sylvia Plath, and Joyce Carol Oates.

Here’s your chance to add your name to that list–good luck!
