• Flora Bowley

Lush, magical and spiritual… color pulls you into Portland artist Flora Bowley’s work. Flora believes there are no mistakes in the creative process and she tries to do something new in each piece.

Portland painter, Flora Bowley is a self-described traveler who thrives in the “magic of the moment.” Lucky for us, she succeeds in capturing her love of color and organic forms on canvas creating lush spiritual worlds that command the visitor’s attention. She is a celebrated artist and teacher of the arts who believes there are no mistakes in the creative process and tries to do something new in each piece. Recently she collaborated with friend and fellow GreenBox artist, Jennifer Mercede on a collection of artwork. And Flora is about to add author to her list of accomplishments in the arts- she is writing a book about her painting process that will be published by Quarry books in Spring 2012.

  • Dinner in a Jar

Pantry Hit- Gourmet Garlic Chicken for Dummies!

Dinner for company in less than an hour and hey, you can read a magazine while it cooks. You start with chicken and a ready- made garlic lemon sauce and, oh, that’s it! A jar, a stove and a nap…

We can’t believe we are recommending dinner from a jar! But when you taste the meal made with this ready-made garlic lemon sauce, you’ll be a believer too. The citrus tastes fresh squeezed and the house smells SOOO good, then dinner delivers in a big way. We ate every bite and word to the wise- this is good enough for guests. You can feed a family of four two meals from the one jar and a group of 8 people by using entire contents at once. Directions called for chicken on the bone but we used boneless breast of chicken and it was good too. Crusty fresh bread and a crisp salad… you are good to go (even nap while it bakes, it’s that easy).

  • Wedding Dress Sketch by Kristina Bass Bailey

Need a WOW wedding gift? Hint: yes to the DRESS

Will your gift stand out in the sea of wedding gifts? Nix traditional flatware and toasters- give a bridal gown sketch! Kristina Bailey’s elegant art turns the dress into a to-die for present.

Want to stand out in the wedding crowd? We bet no one else is getting the bride custom made artwork of her wedding gown. GreenBox artist Kristina Bass Bailey draws an incredibly elegant ink and water color sketch. An unframed 8”x10” sketch starts at $190 making this a great shower or bridesmaid group gift. For Kristina beautiful dresses are a long-time passion- she received her BFA in Fabric Design and interned in NYC in the fashion industry. There she spent her days dying fabrics and embellishing clothing surfaces, an experience that would later greatly influence her painting. When you want the couple to know you put thought into your purchase, we think this is an ideal present.

  • Room in a Box

Yippee, designer Windsor Smith is affordable?!

Take a room from blah to ah with a design from Windsor Smith. The LA decorator’s Room in a Box lets you send your layout and wishes - she mails back a plan of furniture and finishes for a nice price.

Some rooms are hard to visualize in a fresh way- you can’t figure out where to put the sofa or what to do with that awkward corner. When you need high design help on a less than couture budget, you can now try on-line service via Room in a Box. The brainchild of LA designer Windsor Smith, the site walks you through how to submit your room dimensions, must haves and inspirations, then a peacock box arrives at your door with a full scheme of furniture layout, finishes and fabric swatches. You have to do the shopping and installation, but for $1,400 to $4,800, you get a custom vision that can take your space from so-so to swanky!

  • Bride Wars

Our bright and happy “Cardinals” piece by Todd Clark was featured in the hilarious comedy “Bride Wars” featuring Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway.

  • Modern Family (& Greenbox Art) Sweeps Emmys

Modern Family is a hysterical sitcom that once again swept the Emmys by taking home five of the winged lady statuettes. We'd like to think that our art had something to do with it! Cherry Blossom Birdies by the Winborg sisters, Making My Mark by Caroline Blum and Ella the Elephant by Sally Bennett all show up in the nursery of Cameron and Mitchell's baby daughter. The room of Haley Dunphy wouldn't rock without Aaron Christensen's art titled I love Rock & Roll.
