  • Home Decor Trends for Spring/Summer 2017!

Winter is over and now we can trade in our blanket scarves and Sherpa jackets for light layers and ankle-length skinnies! We can also begin transitioning our homes for a new season. This month we are happy to bring you a list of some of the coolest and most prominent upcoming trends for spring and summertime!

    Copper

Let’s jump into the list with a bold and innovative use of an everyday material. This season, gold and silver will have to take a backseat to copper! This metal is no longer just for pennies - its reddish, orange hue is incredibly gorgeous and will add a special touch of elegance to your home. You can find décor and accessories with copper accents in ultra-luxe furnishing stores, but have no worries, retailers like Target are also catching on to the trend! Take a quick glance at some of our favorite copper pieces and their even better price points:

Flatware 5 pc Set Copper - Modern by Dwell Magazine - $24.99, Target

    Large Metal Wire Basket - $24.99, H&M

    Marble

The next decor trend will truly give your home a unique and Instagram-worthy look. It goes without saying that marble has cemented its place in the design world. From cell phone cases to jewelry, let’s face it - marble is everywhere! Marble is formed by minerals and is recognized as one of the oldest art mediums, historically used to create beautiful sculptures for imperial families. Fast forward to springtime of 2017 and you can officially have marble accents in your own home, with or without a royal link! In case you’re looking to add some marble into your life, here is some inspiration:

    Marble Dipping Bowl - $29.95, William-Sonoma

    Marble Dipping Bowl

Marble Terracotta Planter - $12, Urban Outfitters

    Hygge

Next up, one of the trend we’re highlighting interior design for the spring/summer season is not an actual item or pattern, but rather a concept. It’s actually a trend that originated during winter 2016, but is definitely rolling over into the sunny seasons ahead! Hygge (pronounced hue-gah) is Danish for “coziness” and essentially embodies all things heartwarming. and comfortable. Of all the trends mentioned, hygge is by far our favorite - who doesn’t want to make their home even MORE cozy?  Try adding some hygge into your kitchens, bedrooms, and overall space by adding small touches that will make a huge difference:

Capri Blue Iridescent Jar Candle - $28.00, Anthropologie

Slide View: 1: Capri Blue Iridescent Jar Candle

Jaipur Spirit Hand Loomed Throw Blanket - $49.00, Nordstrom

    Modern Floral

Last is the fun and flirty floral trend that can be seen everywhere from Pinterest to the pages of ELLE. Florals add a touch of feminine flair to any room and, although they aren’t the most innovative design trend, they are the prettiest! Recently, florals have appeared in modern style bedding and unique home décor accents. They aren’t just wilting in a glass vase anymore, florals are becoming a part of the space and making a lasting impression on the home décor world. Take a look at some of our favorite contemporary uses of florals:

Cobalt Blue Montgomery Duvet Cover & Sham – $89.00-159.00, Crane & Canopy

Sunflowers Forever Wall Tapestry – $39.00-79.00, Society 6

  • Bring Radiant Orchid into Your Home with GreenBox Art

Since Pantone’s recent Color of the Year announcement, we'd like to welcome Radiant Orchid to the stage, as it has become the most influential color regarded by Pantone for the year 2014. Here are Pantone’s expectations for the enigmatic color’s role in our interiors:

    Radiant Orchid for Interiors
Spruce up interior spaces by incorporating this eye-catching hue in paint, accent pieces and accessories. As adaptable as it is beautiful, Radiant Orchid complements olive and deeper hunter greens, and offers a gorgeous combination when paired with turquoise, teal and even light yellows. Likewise, the vibrant color is sure to liven up neutrals including gray, beige and taupe. Uplifting and bold without being overpowering, Radiant Orchid reenergizes almost any color palette and provides a unifying element for diverse spaces.

So, we’re here to help bring Radiant Orchid into your surroundings, as a symbol of “growth, renewal, and prosperity” as suggested by Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®.

Whether you’re looking for a swathe or a smattering of Radiant Orchid to enliven your décor, we’ve got a style just for you! Each of these selections by unique artists can easily be paired with coordinating artwork and are available in multiple size options, so that you may make a piece a focal point of the room, or part of a larger grouping.

Another fitting décor option was mapped out in our recent Gallery Walls with GreenBox Art Prints blog, featuring a Garnet and Gold gallery. The inspiration image we featured from Apartment Therapy highlighted a stunning focal wall in a shade of Radiant Orchid, accented by artwork in splashes of Pantone’s suggested complementing colors: olive greens, light yellows, beige, taupe, along with deeper purples and garnet to intensify the Radiant Orchid tones.

However you pull off your punch of Radiant Orchid in your home décor, GreenBox Art + Culture has the unique options you crave. Following trends isn’t about looking like everyone else; it’s about incorporating something many of us think is beautiful into our lives in our own personal way.

  • Gallery Walls With GreenBox Art Prints

When it comes to drawing the eye to a focal point in your room, size is key. While we love the instant drama of adding oversized GreenBox artwork to your room, another of our favorite show stoppers is a gallery wall - or cluster of wall decor taking up a large space. A gallery wall can be so many things, genuinely representing your lifestyle, travels, pursuits, passion, nostalgia - you get the picture. While we've talked about creating a gallery wall with GreenBox artwork in the past - mixing and matching artists, combining themed items, including collections - our new framed giclee paper prints are another way to incorporate unique, fine artwork into your wall decor gallery collection. We've found inspiration from a few of our favorite resources to help you create gallery walls with GreenBox art prints. All paper art prints are available in our black or white frames with a white mat, or sold as single paper prints.

  • Using Art as a Photobooth Backdrop

We love any excuse to get some friends together and have a good time. Whether it's wine with the girls or a neighborhood potluck, fun is as far away as an Evite and cocktails! Party decor doesn't have to be tedious and grandiose, it can be simple and DIY for major oohs and ahhs and without breaking the bank. One of the most popular and fun trends as of late is the photobooth backdrop which enables all your guests to take stylishly memorable (and hilarious!) pictures to record the unforgettable fun that was had. If this is no news to you, then how about the idea of using art as a photobooth backdrop? GreenBox Art + Culture has just the vibrant backdrop that will have already found a perfect home in your space as wall art decor. Let's explore some photobooth backdrop options out there, shall we?

Are you a "big-time partier" that has the cash for awesome custom backdrops and parties on a monthly basis? If your M-O is to have parties that will go down as historical events, check out Smilebooth for their clever and creative backdrop options.

If DIY and thriftiness is your bag, check out some of the super cool sites that have tons of ideas in all levels of difficulty. One of our favorite go-to blogs for awesome DIYs is Oh Happy Day - check it out!

However, we'd like to give you an idea you may not have thought of that's no extra work, and no added "decorations". Our oversize adhesive wall murals cover a large area of your wall for very little cost, and they're actually repositionable! They're made of a durable fabric adhesive that displays the fine art detail and rich color we're obsessed with. So, find the perfect mural for your taste and hang it up in your space for home decor that doubles as party decor. These are so large (sizes 54x54, 72x54, and 54x72) that they'll provide a perfect backdrop for fun photos at your next party. If your mural's normally in an area where furniture may be in the way for the best photos, try a temporary furniture rearrangement for the party. Or, grab a couple of friends to help you move your mural to a big blank wall with ample space for your guests to have their picture time, then move it back after the party to its permanent home. Just be sure to keep your mural clean on the adhesive side and use those extra hands from your friends during the transport!

  • Budget Friendly and Stylish Decor

When it comes to decorating one's space, our priorities and budgets can change considerably throughout our lifetimes. What we're into one season may be completely different come the next. Some of us prefer to spend more of our budget on the anchors of a room, like large furniture pieces to last for years, while others see value in accents that glamorize basic home elements that are considered part of the background. Regardless of your current design dilemma, there's always room in everyone's lifestyle for budget friendly and stylish decor. There are many places you may not have thought to seek out such splendid deals, so we're here to spark a little creativity and treasure hunting excitement in your life!

We all need a place to sit and eat, but sometimes you can think out of the box and get stylish and creative results. Chairs meant for outdoor spaces can typically cost less than standard dining room chairs - especially during summer clearance sales. We found these adorable patio chairs on eBay for only about $40! They could easily be repainted and the cushions recovered for custom seating your guests will envy. Another high cost item that can be hard to swallow is an area rug that's stylish and comfortable on your tired feet. You don't have to settle for those synthetic, scratchy rugs you find at discount warehouses. Check out flash sites like Fab.com for some amazing and high design steals. This wool and silk blend below in a contemporary color palette was only $225 (retails for $1,200!) in 5'x8'! Lastly, don't discount the power of a little elbow grease and ingenuity. We all know the fantastic furniture deals one can get at yard sales and places such as Ikea. While you can get some real longevity out of these finds, if you're gentle and loving with your stuff, you may not find much that tickles your fancy. But, don't give up hope! Websites like IKEA Hackers spotlight clever tweaks and transformations of the inexpensive furniture line from crafty people from around the globe - great inspiration! One budget friendly and stylish decor embellishment we found for furniture is a lovely fretwork from O'verlays - imagine the possibilities!

    Budget Friendly and Stylish Decor

Regardless of your personal style, finding artwork that makes your space feel complete is a necessity. While the GreenBox Art + Culture family's ultimate goal is to provide high quality fine art reproductions to every art lover's home, we understand the tricky struggle it can be to find budget friendly and stylish decor. We feel you won't find more detailed, hand-made art that so closely resembles the original artist's work than our products. Through the years, we've added new categories to get these fine works of art onto more walls in larger and more affordable ways. Stretched canvas art provides a polished and sophisticated presentation, while our fabric wall decal material provides the same beautiful art in new ways with a lower price point. Our Designer Wall Decals, like "U Are Funky" by Melanie Mikecz, bring colorful detail and clarity to your walls in a fresh way. Our fabric adhesive material is much more durable and repositionable than the typical vinyl used in single color decals. Our Wall Murals, like "Poppies on Gray" by Rachel Austin below, bring fine art to your walls in a big way. With sizes 72x54" and 54x54" to cover a large part of your wall costing less than $200, creating a fabulous focal point is not out of the question. Lastly, our Letter Decals, such as "Screen Print Letters" by Methane Studios below, will most definitely make a statement in your space. With our Classic 17" tall letters at only $19 each, and Epic sized 27" tall letters at $39, you can say what you please to keep your decor and your budget completely on track.

Many purists have inherited gorgeous mid-century modern furniture and adorned their homes with this stunning decor forever. • Bird Themed Artwork for the Home

A bird is known by its feathers.

Maybe it's their symbol of freedom, or maybe it's their feathers or song - something makes us fall in love with birds. Birds have long been a favorite in modern and classic home decor. While you can find textiles, ceramics, and accessories galore filled with birds, bird themed artwork for the home is an added touch that can take your room in the modern, classic, or even rustic, direction that is uniquely your style. Silhouettes, realistic depictions, and abstract interpretations of birds all have their place in contemporary bird themed artwork for the home.

GreenBox Art + Culture is drawn to artwork full of color and life. We find works that serve as starting points for your entire room's decor and color palette, offering the perfect focal point for your wall. Find a piece of artwork that speaks to you, then your room will fall into place around it. Birds have proven to be a popular theme in our current contemporary art choices. We continuously find images we love with birds as the subject, and there's no expected decline in this fascination.

We've rounded up a sampling of our bird themed artwork for the home to give you some direction based on style. First, we've gathered some of our more whimsical art featuring birds that are sure to bring a smile to your face.  Anna Todaro's "Bluebird" features and angelic creature with a soft color palette.  Linda Ketelhut's "Vintage Birdhouse" would go perfectly in a vintage, eclectic room.  Angela Donato's "Love Bird Pennant"  brings a feminine touch to its surroundings.  Shelly Kennedy's "Welcome to Our Nest" will be right at home on your walls, making guests feel more than welcome.

Some of our abstract art choices featured here will bring color and a little wildness to your walls.  Alberto Cerriteno's "Chattering" has a neutral color palette, with a funky collection of patterned birds.  Carter Carpin's "Patchwork Bird" is a vibrant kaleidoscope of colors that will energize your walls.  Jenny Kostecki-Shaw's "Red Birdcages" features colorful birds that will instantly boost the uniqueness of your room's design.  Flora Bowley and Jennifer Mercede's "Stalk" is filled with passionate brushstrokes in a current color palette of magenta and blue.

Our featured bird modern art is composed of more realistic and stylized birds.  Meg Hunt's "Terrarium Pals" is a graphic delight in a very contemporary color combination.  Eleanor Grosch's "Paisley Pheasant" is a mid-century modern piece with a folk-art twist.  Flora Bowley's "Pretty in Pink" perfectly represents Flora's unique style of intuitive painting with a fresh pink and bold black background.

  • Nautical Room Décor for Your Beach House

It’s easy to go “overboard” in the nautical décor department. If you own a beach house or are lucky enough to live near the ocean, it’s simply expected to have at least a touch of marine accents throughout your home. Whether your home accessories are personal collections from antique shops, articles you’ve found washed up on shore, or fun and quirky ocean themed finds, we’ve got the wall décor to perfectly fit your nautical room décor for your beach house.

With traditional beach house décor, you should have no trouble finding salty seafaring accents that will blend flawlessly just based on theme. There's such a general and pleasing color scheme in the nautical world that the majority of antiques and common nautical fare seem to be made to all go together. We've put together a board with traditional pieces to create inviting nautical room décor for your beach house to ensure no one will forget their goal of vacationing: to feel comfortable and relax. Brass and bronze fixtures pair perfectly with needlepoint pillows and our classic ocean themed artwork by Jack Dickerson.

    1. Traditional Nautical Wall Art by Jack Dickerson 2. Bristol Bay Sunset Bronze Chandelier 3. Whale Tale Door Knocker 4. Ship Pillow & Anchor Pillow

For a crisper, more modern take on nautical room décor for your beach house, we're drawn to graphic prints and clean lines. Quirky items that seem old-fashioned get an updated look with a coat of paint, like this mermaid wall hook. A traditional nautical light fixture is perfectly modern in a fresh aqua color, while a knotted rug in modern hues brings interest to the floor and continues the modern nautical look. Our artwork picks for this modern style include Eleanor Grosch's mid-century modern styled sea birds along with Cory McBee's contemporary graphic of an antique ship.

    1. Seagull + Pelican by Eleanor Grosch & Come Sail With Me by Cory McBee 2. Assembly 3 Light Chandelier 3. Mermaid Anchor Wall Hook 4. Yellow Rope Rug

Finally, a gentleman wants to feel like the captain of his ship and quarters, so we've found some masculine nautical room décor for your beach house that'll keep your room looking sophisticated and seaworthy. Keeping with darker shades of gray, white and silver accents will keep the look from being too dark. Dark wood continues the "old ship" feel and keeps the look classic. We recommend Danny Englander's photography artwork to evoke an elegant maritime style that's timeless and powerful. Paired with sleek accents and monochromatic textiles, this nautical room décor for your beach house is a handsome package.

    1. Nautical Rigging Oversize Wall Mural by Danny Englander 2. Ship's Hourglass 3. Maritime Charcoal Alpaca Throw 4. Rhoorkie Campaign Chair

Regardless of your style, we're certain you'll find your ocean themed artwork "soulmatey" to perfectly complete your nautical room décor for your beach house at GreenBox Art + Culture. Be sure to follow our Pinterest board "Nautical Room Décor for Your Beach House" !

  • Spring Decor for the Home

GreenBox Art + Culture seeks out artwork for our line that brings a smile to your face.

We love color and vibrance that leaps off the canvas and really warms up your walls. For springtime, we recommend a dose of color and whimsy, no matter your age or style. By bringing spring decor for the home into unexpected places, it not only livens up your living space, but it will brighten your outlook and refresh your surroundings. Selecting original artwork from artists around the world enables us to accumulate various styles to fit many types of homes. Our line's definitely got gorgeous options in both neutral and colorful palettes which can brighten up a room in their own way, so if you're seeking home decor to express how spring makes you feel and add dynamic whimsy to your atmosphere, here are some of our top decor picks along with colorful GreenBox artwork for the home.

    Colorful

Whimsy and color don't necessarily mean "childish" and "immature". We see whimsy wherever an accent makes us smile and feel inspired. For those of us that enjoy a healthier dose of color in spring decor for the home, choose show-stopping accents that are impossible to ignore and will have your room bursting with happy hues. Caroline Blum's artwork Spring Blossoms is a gorgeous canvas that will have spring leaping off your wall. In a size 30x4, it makes a perfect centerpiece for your wall over a beige sofa or between windows draped in white. Bringing in a vibrant rug like this Betty Rug in Honey from Design Within Reach, adds a subtle splash of color. By keeping this bold accent relegated to the floor, the color doesn't overtake the room.

Accent tables can be a great place to experiment with color, and offer the option of a simple DIY painting when the mood strikes. This contemporary Drum Stool/Table/Ottoman by Bend Seating is as eye-catching as it is versatile. Available in white, orange, or peacock blue, these options offer a safe and clever way to add color punch to your neutral decor. Brighten up a neutral sofa with a Kantha Throw from Ebay, then use it in your guest room once your living room color choices shift. Lastly, flowers are a perfect way to bring a feeling of spring indoors. Opt for wall art featuring ranunculus and peonies with Paula Prass's Ball Jar Series for a garden that requires no upkeep, but provides lasting and colorful beauty.

    Neutral

For a more subtle approach to bringing spring indoors, whites, pastels, and metallics take center stage. Our neutral picks for spring decor for the home contain some unexpected accents that will have your guests taking a second look, and are sure to bring a smile. These Platinum Etched Wine Glasses from Jayson Home are destined to be a family favorite and passed down as classic heirlooms. Display these in a glass front cabinet or atop a buffet when not in use for functional and timeless decor. Mudpies and Other Recipes from Anthropologie is a delightful book that will be loved by everyone who takes a peek. Your coffee table shouldn't be ignored when perking up your place, so add this colorful conversation starter to bring common ground to a group of kids and adults, and excite the little ones for all the fun that spring brings.

The Ikea PS Jonsberg Vase looks fabulous alone on an entry table or amongst books on your shelf, with one tall white gladiola or a bunch of blossoming branches from your favorite tree. It would also look nice as the centerpiece for your tabletop decor alongside World Market's Porcelain Cotton Crochet Placemat set in this fresh, spring shade. Keep these punches of pastel on the more mature side with plenty of fresh whites, neutrals, and natural wood. Our 5 Dancing Fawns artwork by Eli Halpin maintains a simple, yet contemporary color palette that will accentuate your decor throughout the year, and especially bring to mind the new life brought by spring. The Eartha Linen Throw Pillow from Tulu provides a flowery pink touch without going overboard. Add it to your sofa or armchair for a charming detail that won't steal the show.

Whites or brights, we think it's time to freshen your surroundings with springtime decor. The smallest touches will renew your view and make you smile, and there's no denying that big and bold can't help but let the sunshine in. Our favorite tip? Bring in one, huge, favorite piece and create the Spring Equinox right in your living room: Magnolia Pod by Andrew Daniel in sizes up to 60x45. It's time to open those windows and let the fresh air renew your spirit!

  • Pantone's 2013 Color of the Year: Emerald Green for the Home

When it comes to trends, none are more acknowledged in the fashion and decor world than Pantone's Color of the Year. As you may have heard, their top pick for 2013 is emerald green - a stunner of a color. While this color is easily added to wardrobes across the globe, sometimes it can be tough to incorporate into your home decor without recreating the Emerald City in the Land of Oz. So, we're here to offer some suggestions on how to embellish your surroundings with emerald green for the home.

Sometimes, you've got something in mind, but are simply unable to find exactly what you're looking for. Case in point, our suggested mirror for the powder room couldn't be found in quite the shade of green that we were looking for. Simple fix: spray paint! Check out your local hardware store for the shade that would best suit your project and color palette. The green chosen for this ornate mirror really creates a bold focal point that's best offset by a calmer piece of stretched art, like this from Christy Tomlinson, keeping a small room like a powder room from feeling too busy. An interesting, yet soft-hued hand towel choice brings another dose of color without being too flashy. Vintage bottles in shades of blue and green would be another simple touch that would bring a lot of personality to a powder room.

Our featured bedroom decor brings a heavy dose of emerald green for the home to the bed as the anchor for the entire room. Keep the look more mellow by bringing in black and white details that tie the artwork by Flora Bowley in perfectly with the all green coverlet. Throw pillows, a blanket at the foot of the bed, and simple white curtains will ensure a bright, clean look in this contemporary style bedroom.

Another modern look is our suggested pairing with Jason Smith's wall art decor for the living room. A decidedly mod sofa offers a sleek silhouette, making a discriminating selection of only a few favorite pieces a perfectly adequate grouping for even a larger living room. Minimalism and modern go hand in hand.

For a "parlour" look, seek antique and classic shapes to fill your space. The scenic landscape in Robert Kennedy's canvas wall art is a time-honored piece that will find a place in your family's home for years to come. With an old-fashioned vibe, it's not uncommon or uncouth to let your knick knacks and decor become a little more abundant.
